Episode 71 - The Comic Book Movies of 2013

This week, the boys discuss the upcoming comic book movies for 2013. Which ones they are looking forward to, which ones they aren't looking forward to and the ones they wonder why they even made anyway. Which ones are you looking forward to? Listen and check it out...

But in the meantime, we have reviews... Tony starts off by reviewing Batman and Robin Annual # 1, where Bruce and Damien have a father and son moment which isn't a big deal unless you happen to be Batman and Robin. Brian reviews... guess what... Superman!!! As the "H'el On Earth" storyline comes to a climax, this storyline is really shaping to be a great one for the Man of Steel... because Brian says so.

Lastly, Dave discusses the highly-anticipated Invincible # 100, which is probably the BEST superhero title out there right now. Don't believe us? Let's just say that Dave gives the rare perfect score for this particular issue. It's not quite the typical superhero story, but it is still one of the most popular for comic book fans.

Episode 70 - Class Is In Session... Dark Knight Style

This week brings another awesome opportunity to educate ourselves with the help of The Professor, Brian Smith... as long as Captain Asshole... I mean, Captain Tony knows his role and shuts his mouth while the Professor is lecturing. Tony is such a major douche...

But first, we have reviews. Brian discusses the Superboy annual which is slowly setting up the mind-blowing conclusion of "H'el On Earth" for the Superman titles. Brian is excited for what is slowly being set up and not even Krypto is going to spoil it for him. Tony discusses the first issue of Star Trek Countdown To Darkness which is the official movie prequel to the anticipated Star Trek Into Darkness movie this summer. You thought you knew all of the answers to the rumors about the movie? You'll think twice after reading this one. Lastly, Dave discusses the latest issue from Tim Seeley's Revival. Another great title from Image Comics that is not quite like any other "zombie" story, but it does reflect on how humanity treats itself pretty crappy at times, i.e. it's a great character story.

The Professor, Brian Smith, starts off class by talking about what most people might consider probably the most influential comic book title in comic book history... but you can be the judge: Frank Miller's The Dark Knight. Very insightful summary, and its influence is still evident even up to today. Great learning experience for any comic book fan... as long as Tony behaves... jerkoff.

The Atomic Fallout Society... we don't stalk fake people on the internet.

Episode 69 - Hey Douchebags, We Get It...

This week finds the boys discussing a very important but overexposed topic in the comic book industry. Maybe because the mainstream media are nothing more than douches and can't get over the fact. Doesn't matter if it's the left or right or up or down, they tend to overthink the fact that being gay in comic books isn't a big deal to comic book fans...

But first, Brian Smith talks about the debut of Savage Wolverine. The art is great (especially the bod they give Shanna the She-Devil), but even that doesn't save it from a somewhat weak storyline. But at least Shanna has an incredible rack...

Tony talks about the latest Captain America from Rick Remender and how it is slowly turning into one of the creepiest horror... yes, HORROR... storylines that Cap has ever been involved in recent times. If the opening pages don't disturb you, the last page will only leave you saying "WTF?"

Finally, Dave talks about a title that deserves a lot of love and more exposure. Elephantmen is probably one of those titles that will either blow your mind away or leave you trying to wrap it around this concept. Genetically-altered animals? Check. Noir atmosphere? Check. Slice-n-dice action? Check.

To finish off the show, the guys decided at the last minute to talk about the recent GLAAD awards for comic books. Maybe it's just them, but they aren't too focused on the fact that there are gay comic book characters, they just want great comic book storylines. Is that too much to ask? Tune in to find out...

Episode 68 - Superior Disappointment

Our own David Sabal reviews Superior Spider-Man #1 and as soon as you will find out, it left him rather queasy and upset. Tune is to hear what he says in detail. Brian Smith reviews the latest Detective Comics from John Layman. Far better aftertaste for him and it will leave you wanting for more from the critically-acclaimed creator. Lastly, our captain Tony Sabal reviews a book that's taken almost TWO YEARS to come to a completion. The real question is whether or not Infinite Vacation from Nick Spencer and Christian Ward was worth the wait? Maybe?

Lastly, with both Dave and Brian feeling under the weather lately, what a great time it was to have the BOTH of them rant like madmen while Tony sits back. What could they be ranting about this time? Maybe someone writing about the recent "sales numbers" for both DC and Marvel... hmmmm.

The Atomic Fallout Society... the next best thing to a cure for the common cold.

Episode 67 - Ringing In The New Year... with the New Avengers

Let's get 2013 off and running as the guys sit down and give their first reviews for the New Year. Tony starts off with yet another Avengers title, but this one may be worth it as Jonathan Hickman brings us the New Avengers, or as most people may notice, the Illuminati with Black Panther, who will play a very vital role in this title. Dave moves on to a personal favorite of his in Hellboy Goes To Hell #2. Dave applauds the latest Hellboy, but does it match up with the better Hellboy titles... especially since Hellboy is supposed to be dead as in dead? Lastly, Brian reviews the latest Superman issue... what a surprise. But seriously, this one focuses on Lex Luthor... this isn't the Lex that you are used to, and this one may end up being the most dangerous Lex ever.

This week, Dave dons the serious journalist hat and gives us comic book news that is important to all of us... or is it? You be the judge, jury and executioner.
