Episode 75 - R.I.P. Robin

In a week where the Death of Robin... yeah, here we go again... dominates the comic book industry news, the AFS with only a crew of two does not miss a beat. But first...

David Sabal reviews the debut issue of Uncanny Skullkickers. It's a title after his own heart, cause after all... it has that "D&D" feel about it, and on top of that, it's UNCANNY like what they're doing over at Marvel... wink, wink. Brian Smith jumps onto the most talked about Batman issue in quite some time as Grant Morrison decides to pull the plug on Robin, only this time, Robin is Damien Wayne, who is literally Batman's son. This one is a game changer folks, so listen in and prep yourself for the end of an era and the beginning of something new in the Batman universe.

The guys talk about the recent release of Injustice: Gods Among Us, the latest video game/comic book product. Brian isn't a big fan, and he shows it in this one. The guys also talk about the most recent casting in the upcoming Spider-Man sequel, and it's a BIG one, as well as the hype building around Iron Man 3. They also talk about Superman, because Brian loves him.

Episode 74 - Speculator's Paradise

Brian Smith and Tony Sabal drive this week's show as David Sabal is away on special assignment... if you consider porn research special assignment. Anyway, Tony declares his seal of approval for Mark Waid's Daredevil as comic book near-perfection in terms of story and character. The fact that Waid makes Daredevil a "front-and-center" character is one thing, but this week's issue has a little bit of everything: interesting plot, funny moments and an ending that will throw you in a loop. Brian reviews the newest DC title, Justice League of America and it's debut issue. It sets up things to come that will affect not only the JLA, but the Justice League as well... wait, aren't they the same group? No... which is why you'll have to tune in to find out what Brian says.

Lastly, it's Tony's turn to introduce a new segment to the program, the Speculator's Corner. Now, Brian isn't a big fan of speculators, you know, the ones who buy comic books looking to make a fortune, but Tony wants to point out how wacky of a concept it is but also how fascinating. Case in point, this week Tony discusses the latest Image Comics titles that have seen their values multiply astronomically over the last couple of years and why this is the case. Hopefully, this will give you a better understanding of why certain comic books are costing some people a down payment on their mortgage and some are just plain busts.

Episode 73 - Marvel Now vs. DC 52

This week, the society discusses a brand-new Point/Counterpoint with the topic centering around the new initiatives of the "Big Two": Marvel Now and DC 52. Which one is the better initiative? Which one makes better sense? Which one completely missed the mark. Who the hell allowed David Sabal to speak for Marvel? Tune in to find out the answers to these important questions.

But first, we have reviews, and our captain Tony Sabal leads off with the latest from the Walking Dead title with a one-shot issue on the Governor, probably one of the most infamous characters in recent comic book history. This one is geared more towards the fans of the hit TV show, but Walking Dead fans will still love this issue. Dave reviews the premiere issue of the Uncanny X-Men as this particular issue finishes on a shocking final page that will most likely set the tone for upcoming X-Men storylines. Not to be missed if you are a big X-Men fan. Lastly, Brian Smith reviews the climatic final issue of "Death Of The Family". Is it possible to give an issue and book a high score YET not be happy with the ending? It's better than a cop-out ending but still... this particular issue will have comic book fans debating for awhile.

The Atomic Fallout Society... the only real initiative that counts is ours.

Episode 72 - Industry News with David Sabal

This week, Dave brings everyone up-to-date with the latest in the comic book industry. Our own little newscaster brings up topics to inform, and in this case, topics that only inflame our buddy, Brian Smith. In other words, this week will be an angry one for our Professor...

But first, Tony talks about the latest New Avengers and the focal point which happens to be the Illuminati. This isn't the Illuminati that you may be familiar with... but one thing is for sure, Captain America isn't liking what he is seeing. What to do with those Infinity Gems? Hmmmm...

Dave reviews Harbinger #0 from Valiant Comics. Who is Harbinger? Probably the most powerful individual on the planet, and he has an agenda alright... an agenda that will shape the universe forever.

Lastly, Brian talks about Aspen Comics' Legend of the Shadow Clan. Big things are happening with Aspen Comics, and it starts off with this special issue. Tune in to find out more exciting news about where Aspen Comics is headed. Brian is definitely excited.
